About Sacramento
Sacramento is the capital city of the U.S. state of California. It is located at the confluence of the Sacramento River and the American River in the northern portion of California's expansive Central Valley. Sacramento has a Mediterranean climate, characterized by damp to wet, mild winters and hot, dry summers. The wet season is generally October through April, though there may be a day or two of light rainfall in June or September. Snowfall is rare in Sacramento.

The oldest part of the town is called Old Sacramento, which consists of cobbled streets and many historic buildings, several from the 1850s and 1860s. Buildings have been preserved, restored or reconstructed, and the district is now a substantial tourist attraction, with rides on steam-hauled historic trains and paddle steamers.

On-Street Parking
Parking Services is responsible for On-Street Parking in the City of Sacramento. They provide parking enforcement, maintain and repair parking meters and provide residential and commercial parking permits.

A Pay & Display Station is an automated kiosk that replaces multiple meters on a block. The station accepts credit cards and coins, and it provides users with printed receipts to be displayed on the streetside window. The stations require far less maintenance than regular meters, increase revenue, improve parking turnover rates and offer greater convenience to visitors and residents.

Meters are enforced 7 days a week in the Old Sacramento area, from 10:00am to 8:00pm, excluding meter holidays.

Meters are enforced 6 days a week in the Downtown Sacramento area, from 8:00am to 6:00pm, excluding Sundays and meter holidays.

Off-Street Parking
Parking Services is responsible for Off-Street Parking in the City of Sacramento. Monthly parking for garage and surface lot facilities are subject to space availability. For facilities with no availability, you may request to be placed on a wait list. All garages utilize a parking access card for monthly parking.

There are a plenty of garage parking options available in and around the downtown area. One may choose to park in a garage if the parking requirement is for more than just an hour or two. Parking Garages are highly suitable for both short and long term parking requirements.
